Master Plan 202 - Liner Notes

MasterPlan 202 is Z-Train's first full-length release. It contains a good bit of material originally recorded on 4-track, then imported into Audacity. MP202 was a harbinger to the Sunset album, in that it sampled a lot of different sounds, beats, and voices. The level of sampling and sound manipulation on MP202, however, is not nearly as precise and extensive as Sunset. For example, almost all of the drum loops tracks used here were created on a Sega Genesis home video game system, which is not exactly "pro audio" equipment. In fact, there are a lot of scratches and blemishes throughout these early recordings. In Japan, they believe that imperfection enhances an art object's beauty. This is America, but it's still a pretty sweet record.
