Interstellar Jive - Liner Notes

Greetings, Earthling. Welcome to my new space record.

Actually, the "out sound" has been around for a long time. Over the years, outer space has been a rich source of inspiration for many musical genres, from space rock and intergallactic funk/rap to out jazz and planetary classical. Artists like Sun Ra, John Coletrane, Pink Floyd, Parliament, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, the Beastie Boys, and Gustav Holst (to name a few) have all riffed on the idea of extraterrestrial existence.

And fascination with space doesn't end with music. Other areas, such as science, mathematics, religion, philosophy, literature, television, film, travel/leisure, manufacturing, and food are all down with space. I could go on and on, but I won't. Suffice it to say: Space is the place!

Most of the songs on this release include some type of sound from space - a radio emission from Saturn, a whistler from the magnetosphere, or space-weather static. NASA, SETI and others were kind enough to make these sound files available to the public.

And so, here is one more interpretation of the vast unknown. May we move closer to understanding the great mystery.
